GitHub Copilot CLI: Nested Bare Repository Can Execute Arbitrary Commands via core.fsmonitor
## Summary A security vulnerability has been identified in GitHub Copilot CLI where a malicious bare git repository nested inside a project directory can achieve arbitrary code execution when the agent performs git operations. By exploiting git's automatic bare repository discovery during directory traversal, an attacker can set `core.fsmonitor` or other executable config keys to run arbitrary commands without user awareness or approval. ## Details Git supports bare repositories — repositorie
GitHub Copilot CLI Dangerous Shell Expansion Patterns Enable Arbitrary Code Execution
## Summary A security vulnerability has been identified in GitHub Copilot CLI's shell tool that could allow arbitrary code execution through crafted bash parameter expansion patterns. An attacker who can influence the commands executed by the agent (e.g., via prompt injection through repository files, MCP server responses, or user instructions) can exploit bash parameter transformation operators to execute hidden commands, bypassing the safety assessment that classifies commands as "read-only."
